I’m currently living overseas in South Africa. I moved back due to COVID-19 because I lost my job but will be back in the Netherlands latest August 2021.
I have a huge problem that unfortunately a huge bank like ING cannot help with me.
I accidentally blocked my mobile app. This is bad news because if you block your mobile app you can’t access your internet banking, so basically you are locked out of all your banking.
To make matters worse I had changed my mobile number a few months ago and didn’t change it on my internet banking so I can’t even re-activate the mobile app because it sends a sms to my old number that doesn’t exist anymore.
So what to do, oh yes phone ING Alarmlijn to unblock the account so I can register my new home address and then I can register my new phone number, sounds simple? Wrong, it is impossible.
ING Alarmlijn staff seem like they don’t know what to do or what they are doing. I have called the number like 10 times, which is not cheap and every-time I have to go through the same procedure only to get nowhere.
Here are some suggestions I have been giving. Please can you wait I will put you on hold while I check your details. Usually the phone call then disconnects. No explanation, this has happened like 5 times.
Another time; Oh yes, you can send us a letter to this ING Address to change your address and mobile number. Guess what, the ING address does not exist!
Or you can email this email or this email to help you change your address. Nothing works all the emails I get giving either don’t work or the reply I get told is to call, you guessed it, the ING Alarmlijn.
And guess what? The cycle repeats itself again and again.
Now I won’t continue calling because ING is obviously incapable of helping it’s clients overseas. If you screw up and lock yourself out of your accounts, guess what, you will have to fly back to the Netherlands to get help. They make you pay because they can’t help you.
Gewenste Oplossing:
All I want is to access my Internet and Mobile app banking so I can get on with my financial life.
This means helping me change my home address and mobile number so I can gain access to my bank account.
Please don't ask me to call ING Alarmlijn again there must be a better solution.
