Bij Gold Car heeft een klant een auto gehuurd met de verwachting dat de all-risk verzekering inbegrepen was voor € 99,50. Bij aankomst op Madeira moest de klant echter twee uur wachten en werd er tijdens het afhandelen van de huur een extra all-risk verzekering van € 154 opgedrongen, ondanks dat dit niet was afgesproken.

Mijn Klacht:

I rented a cheap car about a month in advance via internet expecting to pick up the car swiftly on arrival at Madeira on Sunday morning 14 September including full risk insurance for a total of € 99,50. So far so good.

On arrival in Madeira however I had to wait in a queue at the Goldcar counter for about two hours!

When it was finally my turn at the counter, the lady first tried to convince me to upgrade from gasoline to diesel for an extra €60. I was not interested but it costed about ten minutes of my holiday time at Madeira. If I were, I would have booked such a car right away via internet in advance.

Next, the lady verbally forced me to take an extra all risk insurance for €154 extra, threatening with all kinds of extremely large claims in case of a problem. I accepted under this pressure taking her word that I would otherwise be exposed to extreme risks. It costed another half an hour!!

Thirdly, goldcar charges an amount of €88 for a full tank of 45 liter gasoline, that is €1,96 per liter. Normal prices at Madeira are about €1,67. Goldcar thus makes an extra profit of €13,05, not openly informing its customers. On turning in the car at the end of the rental period, the tank was still 3/8 full. Goldcar redeemed only 2/8 at a price of € 1,51 per liter. Another extra profit for Goldcar of € 11,20.

At home, I had some time to go through all the paperwork and found out that I now have indeed two times a full risk insurance. I phoned Goldcar on their Customer Service telephone number but did not get any cooperation. I emailed Goldcar seceral times but they do not react on my emails.

To summarize…
1. The original price for the car with Cardelmar was €99,50 including full insurance
2. Goldcar deprived me of about 2,5 hours holiday plessure
3. Goldcar verbally forced me to take an EXTRA full risk insurance for €154
4. Goldcar charges an extra €13,05 for a tank full of gasoline and kept an extra € 11,20 on return of the car
5. Goldcar caused me to spend about an hour of international telephone rates
6. Goldcar cannot be reached by telephone and does not react on my series of emails

Gewenste Oplossing:

I demand either from Cardelmar or from Goldcar a full compensation of the extra redundant full risk insurance of €154 and the extra €13 + € 11 charged for the gasoline, in total €178.

11 jaren geleden - Status per 21-October-2014: - I have phoned Goldcar on their telephone number +34 965 94 31 86 but they refuse to answer my question and to put me through to their back office people - I have sent about 52 emails now to Goldcar at their official email-addresses: [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] but no response whatsoever - I have submitted a so-called disputed transaction to the credit card company icscards to redeem the €242 that Goldcar had charged to my credit card. Icscards now wants to have a copy of the rental contract that I will send in today.

11 jaren geleden - I am pleased I can say that yesterday, 23-Okt-2014, the creditcard company Icscards has reimbursed the € 242 that Goldcar had charged to my credit card in anticipation of a reaction from Goldcar.

11 jaren geleden - I am very disapointed to say that my creditcard company has charged my creaditcard recently for the amount of money that I have been ripped off by Goldcar. I am also very disappointed not to get any answer from CardelMar nor Goldcar.
