Mijn Klacht:
I had a 3-year contract with Greenchoice for gas and electricity which expires mid-July. On 23 June 2022 I received an email Je nieuwe energietarieven informing me about the upcoming contract expiration and the new, variable rates for gas, valid until 01 Oct. 2022.
Due to the increase in price, I increased my monthly payment in the My Greenchoice section. I even searched the whole section if there was anything else regarding the contract but there was nothing.
On 30 Jun 2022 I received another email, this time a rectification of the one from 23 June, now including the new variable prices for electricity as well.
On 05 Jul 2022 I received an email Laatste kans! Je contract loopt af. which included a link Bekijk mijn verlengaanbod. However, upon clicking the link the same day, I only received the message TIJDELIJK GEEN VERLENGAANBOD and have received this message ever since. Logging into My Greenchoice didn’t show my any verlengaabod either.
Calling them several times since then only to land in the queue, today I eventually managed to speak to someone. This lady told me that ALL customers received a verlengaanbod but since my contract was about to expire and because of the current market situation I’m too late to get a verlengaanbod. Serious?!?!?
I fully understand the current market conditions and that companies can’t make new contract offers to customers other than variable ones fixed for a couple of months. What really ticks me off is the way this is handled by Greenchoice:
I DID NOT receive ANY verlengaanbod as the lady claimed – the link in the email of 05 Jul 2022 didn’t show me my new contract offer. I DID NOT receive any email with any offer for a fixed contract at any point in time before 05 Jul 2022 other than the one of 23 Jun 2022 informing me of the new variable rates. Before that I only received 2 emails – on 30 May 2022 asking me for my opinion and on 14 Jan 2022 informing me that I could reduce my monthly amount.
I fully understand that energy companies are currently pressed between a rock and a hard stone and don’t really have a choice but to offer variable rates. But don’t tell me that I received an offer for a fixed contract which I didn’t and don’t tell me that I’m too late because when I clicked on the link with the verlengaanbod the same day I got the email without getting anywhere.
To me it looks very much like they sent out a bunch of emails pretending to provide new, fixed contract offers without actually having the intention of doing so. It’s certainly a lot more beneficial to push customers into variable contracts these days. Quite questionable business practices….!
Gewenste Oplossing:
I want to see the verlengaanbod for a fixed period that was supposedly sent to me and have the opportunity to make an informed choice of whether or not to take it.
