I rented a car in Ibiza a few weeks ago. I booked this car at Ryanair website and I also booked the insurance.
When I arrived in Ibiza and went to the booking office of the supplier (Goldcar) to arrange my car by pick-up, I had to pay 331,95€. I really thought this was the payment of my booking I did online a few days earlier, because with online bookings they don’t always take the money directly from your bank account, sometimes you get charged when you really arrive and check-in somewhere. So, I didn’t thought about that, I paid it at goldcar office AirPort and signed a paper.
But when I checked my bank account a few days later (I don’t do that every day offcourse), I saw that there was already a payment of 277,73€ (the amount of my online booking) on 22/7 AND a payment of 331,95€ on 28/7 (the day of pick-up) to goldcar itself…. Ofcourse I then realized that I actually paid twice for this car. .
So, at time of drop-off (9/8) at the airport, I went to the goldcar desk and complained about all this… they said I buyed an extra insurance at pick-up time and that I agreed with that… offcourse, I don’t agree, because why would I buy an extra insurance if I already booked an insurance online?! I must say that I really don’t like a game like that. The lady who gave me information at pick-up date (in really por English!!) never explained me that the amount I was paying at that time (331,95€) was something extra. OK, I signed a paper (in Spanish!) where it is probably mentioned, but I had no idea. I thought I paid the amount of my online booking and a extra amount for full to full fuel.
They didn’t do anything with my complain at drop-off time. They said I wanted an extra insurance because I didn’t wanted to block the amount of 1100€ as guarantee in case of damage… but that’s crazy… I even raised my MasterCard limit to be able to provide that amount.
I’m really sick because all this, it’s not fair at all! My car costed me more than double the price I booked it!

Gewenste Oplossing:

Extra betaalde verzekering (waar ik niet om gevraagd heb) terugbetaald zien!! Dit is mensen misleiden en bestelen!
