Een klant heeft in 2015 een dure Chesterfield-sofa van €2500 gekocht bij Houweling Interieur, in de veronderstelling dat het om een kwaliteitsproduct ging. Na twee jaar begon het leer te vervellen, en na onderzoek bleek dat de gebruikte stof geen echt leer was, maar bonded leather, gemaakt van leerresten. De klant voelt zich bedrogen door de kwaliteit en professionaliteit van het bedrijf.

Mijn Klacht:

In 2015, when I walked in to their luxury shop in Amsterdam Villa Arena, I thought I am in professional company and I will get a quality product seeing their price range. I bought a leather Chesterfield sofa for €2500. Being the most expensive leather sofa on my list at that time. I naively trusted the quality and professionalism of these gentleman. Well, nothing can be further than the truth.

In 2 years, the leather on this on this expensive sofa slowly started to peel like egg shells, no matter how much leather maintenance cream I use problem didn’t stop. By the 3rd year it got really worse. Asking some experts I learned that actually the leather used in this sofa is not even real leather, its called bonded leather. Made from leather scraps, they are meshed and glued into a fabric, looks real but in 2 years all those glued scraps starts to come off with the slightest touch. Like peeling a boiled egg. A very expensive egg.

A luxury shop wouldn’t sell me such junk. So I thought that maybe it was a defected product, so I sent an email to company asking for help. No response for 4 months. Then I called them, they promised to call me back and address the issue, of course they didn’t call back. Then I sent another email, and again no response other then suggesting to use a leather maintenance cream (!). Then finally 3 weeks ago I called them again and had a long discussion again on the phone. This time the gentleman on the phone sounded quite annoyed that I’m not letting this go away. He again promised that they will really call me back this time and address this issue. Of course, now it is been 3 weeks and still no call! Then I realized that I’m actually ripped off and stalled by these people for months. I get better quality products and better customer service even on second hand market.

Even If I get nothing from them, other people should know the truth and think twice before stepping in there.

Gewenste Oplossing:

In the beginning I would be open to negotiate a solution like repairing the sofa, changing the covers etc. But witnessing how shockingly unprofessional and careless these people are, I don\'t want to do any business with them anymore. According to the 3 year Dutch Consumer law, I want my full money back for this junk they sold me and stalling me for months.
