Een klant van Basic Fit heeft een klacht ingediend over extra kosten voor het annuleren van zijn maandabonnement. Hij was ervan overtuigd dat hij op elk moment zonder extra kosten kon annuleren, maar ontving een rekening van 18 euro voor de opzegging, wat hij beschouwt als een schending van de Europese consumentenwetgeving. De klacht is inmiddels opgelost.

Mijn Klacht:

I subscribed to the monthly rate at basic fit about 10 days ago and I did so under the condition that I could cancel at any time with no additional cost. So yesterday I cancelled fully aware that obviously the month had been paid and lost to my surprise they want to charge me an additional 18 euros until the 7th of September. Basically what they are doing is charging more for a monthly contract but then they insist on a 4 week notice to cancel the contract. This is a clear violation of European consumer law and frankly just a rip of and fraudulent behaviour.

Gewenste Oplossing:

As soon as they tell me they won't charge my account and they promise to stop these fraudulent business practices. I might actually get the European Commission involved because it seems pretty clear to em that what they do is a SISTEMATIC AND INTENTIONAL violation of consumer rights. Once they have your account details they charge you whatever they like and are not available by phone or mail.

Your membership was terminated on 7-8-2021 and will therefore end on 7-9-2021

Hello,

I don't really care what you apply. When I contracted your services I was told different by your employee and I asked twice to make sure.
Also this policy violates European consumer law.
So either you don't charge me these additional 18 euros or I will file a complaint with the European Ombudsman and the European Commission. Also I will inform my bank that I will consider any charge on my account from your company a fraudulent charge because I hereby revoke the authorization to charge my account. I already thought that it was strange that you wanted me to pay by credit card and still wanted my full account details. These business practices explain this unusual behaviour. It's not about the 18 Euros, it's about getting ripped off.
I don't need the 18 euros but I will fight you on this. Contrary to what you might think it's very close say for a consumer to cause trouble for companies which violate European consumer law.
