I bought co-travel tickets using the NS app while visiting the Netherlands, trusting the system would work. Mistake.
The app happily sold me tickets for a 17:00 train from Delft to Eindhoven, but when I got to the station, the gates refused to let me through. Apparently, co-travel tickets aren’t valid during peak hours — something the app forgot to mention when happily taking my money.
When I asked for help, customer service shrugged it off with a no refunds policy and suggested I use the ticket later in the day… because I had an international flight back to the UK, I couldn’t use the tickets.
I ended up buying another full-price ticket just to get home. So basically, NS sold me a product I couldn’t use, refused to refund it, and offered no real solution.
If you enjoy being charged for unusable services and receiving world-class indifference, then NS is the company for you. Otherwise, good luck — you’ll need it.
