Geachte heer/mevrouw,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction regarding the saving campaign for glasses held by Albert Heijn in which you require the usage of a smartphone application. It has come to my attention that many people, including my sister suffering from dementia, are experiencing difficulties using the app.
I am of the opinion that the application provided for this action is discriminatory and exclusive since it leaves out a large group of people who are either dealing with a mental illness or are older.
The unfair treatment disregards people who do not have the necessary digital literacy or the technical facilities needed to participate in this action. This act of discriminating against people based on their ability to use a smartphone application is contrary to the principles of fairness, respect, and equality enshrined in Articles 14, 20, and 21 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.
I urge Albert Heijn to review this action and to take into consideration a different, more accessible method for all customers who wish to participate. A possible solution could be traditional stamps and a card to affix them on, which is proven to be less complex and more user-friendly especially for the digitally challenged and elderly people.
Given the potential violation of the aforementioned legal provisions and the sentirment that older people and those with a lesser digital affinity are being excluded by Albert Heijn, I request appropriate redress.
I trust that Albert Heijn will treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.
I look forward to your response within 14 days after the date of this letter.
Met vriendelijke groet,
