Good afternoon.
During my professional years a had accumulated so many miles with KLM Air France that I was awarded with the Platinum for life status. With this status I could enjoy a number of (minor) advantages, amongst which free extra luggage, access to lounges. Etc.
My wife and I have been traveling as much as possible with KLM and had booked flights to Bali and then Bonaire in 2021-22 but due to Covid restrictions, we had to cancel or modify our reservations a number of times, always against a cost.
The latest modification (again at a cost) had been a flight to Bonaire 21 Jan. – 28 Jan 2023. Tickets were bought in October 2022 Ref: WJJIPF and for both my wife and myself they included one piece of checked luggage. For me no extra luggage, why?
This morning I was checking the status of our flight and discovered that not only the FB status of my wife had been downgraded to “explorer” but also that her checked luggage had been removed, and had to be paid for extra.
First of all, it is really a bad service to downgrade an FB card without prior warning. After all we had booked long distance fights during the period when your system keeps count of flights taken. The fact that we (she) couldn’t take these flights has not been her fault.
Secondly I am surprised that KLM can simply change the conditions of a SOLD ticket afterwards and on top of that without informing the passenger of this change.
Frankly I am really very disappointed in KLM the airline to whom I have brought so much business in the past.
