Mijn Klacht:
Dear SirMadam,
This is a formal complaint. I am writing this letter to bring to your attention how I was treated poorly while visiting your shop, Douglas, last Friday on 14th September.
At around 16:00, I visited your shop to use a Douglas gift voucher I had been given by a close friend. I had visited the clothes shop DD and was carrying a branded bag from there. Upon entering Douglas, one of your sales assistants – a mature woman in her late 50searly 60s with black hair and wearing a black trouser suit – came up to me, uned, and immediately demanded to look in my DD bag. Before I could answer she proceeded to search through my bag. I felt traumatised and humiliated. I was so shocked that I immediately walked out of the store. This treatment was completely unacceptable and this woman had no right to search me. I work at the British School in The Netherlands in Leidschenveen – if I had been seen by one of the parents whose children I teach, or a colleague, I would have faced an internal investigation, with the potential of my hard-earned reputation for honesty being damaged.
I would like a full apology. If you are going to encourage your staff to search through people’s bags, you should put a sign up warning people. I am considering talking to a lawyer to gain a full understanding my legal rights in this situation and look forward to your reply while I think about my next steps.
Sincerely,
Jilly Ulrich
