Mijn Klacht:

Dear SirMadam,

Excuse me for writing in English, and I don’t mind receiving a respond in Dutch language.

In March 2018 I parked my Dutch car in the parking area in Austria, and I forgot to apply the hand-brake, then I left the car to drink a coffee. The car rolled down about 1 meter and hit another car (German car) was passing by and caused a tiny dent in the door of the other car where my car is okay without damage because the speed was close to zero.

And now the car insurance company requires to replace a new door for him which I strongly disagree with and I believe that it is not logical decision for such a tiny dent like this, which will cost me around 2250 EUR.

Gewenste Oplossing:

I know very good that it was my fault and I am responsible about what has happened but at the same time I believe we are in the 21st century and there are many simple waystools to fix this small dent with in 5 minutes probably without the need to replace a new door and the cost will be much cheaper.

I tried my best to talk to my car insurance company and discus the mentioned above, and their argument was the labor hour in Germany is expensive.

I have some pictures to support my words. Please advise. Many Thanks.

Dear M Oubari,

Thank you for sharing your complaint. I can understand that you were surprised by the cost of the damage that your car caused. I looked up the damage file and I would like to share my conclusion with you.

On March 30st 2018 you had an accident on a parking lot in Austria. Your car rolled down and hit another car with very low speed. The door of the other car had to be replaced, whilst you assumed that the damage was not that bad.

Although your car has hit the other with low speed, it damaged the door of the other car that much, that it had to be replaced: the bar which ensures firmness in the door, was contorted so that the reparation was no longer a possibility. This, combined with the fact that German standards for reparation slightly differ from Dutch standards, makes that the costs of the damage are higher than you would expect.

The standards for German reparation might differ from Dutch standards, but we discussed the method with a Dutch damage expert. In his opinion, the method is not that unusual that we had to revise it to Dutch standards.

However you asked for something else, I hope you can understand my point of view. If you have any further questions, please let me know.
